Association of Travel Agencies of Macedonia
The Association of Travel Agencies of Macedonia (ATAM) was founded in 1994 as a form of organization of the interested travel agencies on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia for advancement and development of the tourist - agency work and the establishment and the realization of the cooperation with the bodies and associations from the tourist branch and the complementary branches from the country and abroad.
It is a voluntary and non - profit association of the Macedonian tourist agencies. At present, ATAM embodies more than 80 members (travel agents and tour operators from all over the country) with the tendency of expanding. The members of ATAM are the most active and they accomplish the major part of tourist turn over in the country.
The basic goals, tasks and functions of ATAM are:
- advancement and development of the tourist - agency work through the introduction of the rules and standards of ATAM;
- representation of the interests of the member - organizations of the Association in front of the authorities in the country and abroad;
- realization of in the cooperation with the organizations on bilateral and international field where ATAM is a member - organization;
- protection of the professionalism of the tourist agencies and the profession tourist agent, but only under the conditions of the full respect of the international conventions, the agreements which are regulating the agency work and the rules and standards of ATAM;
- using the advantages of the common propaganda and promotion activities in the country and abroad;
- education and training of the human resources and other common activities.
ATAM has the following forums: Assembly, Executive Board and President.
From July 1st, 2000, ATAM is a regular member of UFTAA. Also, ATAM has established bilateral cooperation with the associations of travel agencies from Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro and Turkey.
ATAM anticipate contributing to the effort in the following ways:
- Provide professional consulting services;
- Participate in community and regional workshops, seminars and conferences.
